Ganton Golf Club
A true all year round course due to great drainage from the sandy sub soil, this undulating heathland course has hosted many major championships including The Ryder Cup.
Formed in 1891, the famous Harry Vardon was professional here from 1896 – 1903.
Shot making accuracy is imperative on the firm, fast running gorse lined fairways. If you avoid the gorse then you must also keep out of the huge cavernous bunkers placed strategically around the fairways and greens. But at 6,990 yards this is not a course on which to play too many safe shots.
The signature Par 4, 4th hole is featured in The 500 Greatest Golf Holes in the World. You’re task is to first find the fairway on this daunting hole then play a second shot over a valley to a multi bunkered, firm green surrounded by thick gorse.
