![]() Royal Lytham St Annes Golf ClubThis jewel of a links course nestled on the Lancashire coast whilst not next to the sea is still very affected by the ever changing sea breezes. Formed in 1886 and modified by Harry Colt in 1919 and regarded as one of the Great Championship Courses, it was first used as an Open venue in 1926 when won by the legendary American golfer Bobby Jones. Whilst not the longest of courses at 6,885 yards, it is often described as a beast, as accuracy from the tee is vital to avoid over 200 bunkers that are carefully positioned on fairways and around greens together with bushes and trees that line many holes. No more so than on the signature 18th hole where the landing area from the drive is littered with cross bunkers making a nervous finish for a player holding a good score.
