The Difference a shaft makes -
YS6+ stiff shaft by Graphite Design

Two weeks ago my son - Alex Morton, who plays off 1 handicap, said that he felt the shaft in his Srixon Driver was needed to be changed in order to give him more consistency, even though he loves using this club.

This can often happen in late teenage years as young men grow stronger and start to hit the ball a long way that the shaft, particularly in the Driver, may not be firm enough.

It also applies to any golfer who after buying a Driver, for what ever reason, finds that the shaft fitted does not suit their swing speed and need to look for an alternative.

So after having his swing speed measured at 95mph, it was decided that a YS6+ stiff shaft by Graphite Design would be the correct choice.

Two days later the shaft arrived, was fitted and ready for testing out on the practice ground. The results were amazing. Swinging with his normal swing speed there was an immediate gain of around 20 yards in length and the balls finished in a much tighter group. So the first competitive round in the July Medal competition at Shifnal Golf Club was eagerly looked forward to, trying the club out for real.

The result was a 66 gross on a par 71 course, with a dramatic improvement in length and control from the driver fitted with the new shaft.

Once you feel comfortable with a club this can help to promote confidence and bring improvement to your own game. So don’t be afraid to experiment and change a shaft in any club if you feel your game is in need of help. Seek out good professional advice and look forward to lower golf scores.
