Golf Swing Practise Exercises No 5.
Practise with a vanity mirror - The cheapest of golf swing aids!
This has same objective as the shadow exercise, to check on a moving head.
However, you can do this either as a practise swing or by actually hitting a golf ball on the practise ground.
First try and find a very small mirror, the type ladies usually carry around inside a handbag. One that is small enough to just about see both eyes in. Any bigger and the objective of the exercise is diminished. This could be the cheapest of golf swing aids!
Prop the mirror golf swing aid onto an object on the ground, like a small piece of turf, a few centimetres outside the toe of your golf club but angled so that you can see your eyes in the mirror, when swinging.
When it is all set up, take your practise swing. You will find how difficult it is to keep the eyes reflected in the mirror, even at the take away, never mind the rest of the swing. However with time you will be able to swing keeping the eyes always in view. Already you will feel that the swing is much more central than before.
Now try it out with a golf ball. Take your normal address position with the club head behind the ball, but keep looking into the mirror whilst hitting the ball.
You will soon find that you are hitting the ball more consistently when keeping your eyes in view.
