![]() Golf Swing Practise Exercises No 8 Practise with one armA very good way to develop strength and co ordination at the same time is to try hitting golf balls with one arm only. The golfer Henry Cotton was a great believer in this form of practise. He used it so much in his quest of perfection during his wonderful tournament career that he claimed he could hit the ball three quarters of normal distance with any club with either arm.
Use a club with some loft, perhaps a no 7 iron. Practise with half swing and try to keep brushing the turf at the point of impact. When you feel confident, try with the ball. Remember to feel that the arc of the swing is created by using plenty of arm and wrist action combined with fluid movement of the body and legs. Nothing should be restricted, encourage smoothness. If you find this a difficult golf swing technique and most golfers do at first, don’t give up too early. It will take time to develop consistency. Eventually you will want to try using the left arm only. This is even more difficult to do, but persevere. This is an exercise for life. Keep using it as part of your regular practise routine. The rewards will so beneficial in developing a powerful controlled swing through extra strength in the arms and hands combined with good coordinated body movements. This will help improve your golf swing technique. |
