It often happens when faced with short puts, particularly down hill left to right puts. No matter what you try, you seem to miss more puts than you hole out. When confidence on the green is low, a probable cause is through de-accelerating at impact, loosing that firmness of stroke, resulting with the putter face not returning square at impact. It can also be through anxiety by looking up too soon to see if the ball has dropped in to the hole. Many golfers will simply go out and buy themselves a new putter in the hope that a change of model will result in a quick cure. Sometimes it can. But a less expensive way is to have a good back up putting practise golf exercise to help overcome the problem. One that provides a long lasting cure and restores confidence through a little time spent on the practise putting green, rather than by spending a lot of money on the latest putter design. I suggest you first start your golf putting practise with 6 balls placed in a line about 3' or 1m After holing out the first 2 or 3 balls along the line you will feel quite calm. But in the quest to finishing off the row in one go without missing a put, tension will increase with each ball remaining.
