It was on a visit to the renowned Harry Ramsden’s fish restaurant that I first learned of Marriott Hollins Hall. A fellow diner, knowing of my love of golf, said the hotel and course were not far away and I shouldn’t miss the opportunity to check them out. 
A brief look around was sufficient to fire my enthusiasm to have a crack at this exciting course. The “Sunday driver” package of two rounds of golf, dinner, bed & breakfast, was exceptionally good value, so the game was on.
The golf course at Hollins Hall is not flat. For those walking the course, a concierge service is provided to transport you and your clubs to the first tee. There are plenty of reasonably priced buggies however and the less agile will probably want to make use of one, for the first round at least. 
A championship course, with breathtaking views and challenges everywhere, the natural landscape has been cleverly used to provide features you are unlikely to meet elsewhere. Don’t be deterred if you are not a low handicapper – I am a very ordinary golfer, but I fell in love with this golf course and I played in my “buffer” zone.
The hotel is a magnificent Victorian building within secluded landscaped grounds and the accommodation has been tailored to meet the requirements and comfort of all guests. Dining can be formal in Heathcliff’s restaurant or informal in the Long Weekend café bar depending on your mood, but you would go a long way to beat the quality of food and the friendly service. They are very hot on guest relations in this hotel.
